Terms of Use
1. About Dubbadhu
Dubbadhu is an Afaan Oromo language learning application operated by Afaan LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms govern your access to and use of the Dubbadhu mobile application and website at dubbadhu.com (collectively, the "Service").
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using Dubbadhu, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Account Registration
To access certain features you must create an account using your phone number. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration
- Keep your account credentials secure
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Subscriptions & Billing
Dubbadhu offers paid subscription plans processed through Apple's in-app purchase system. By subscribing you agree to the following:
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account upon purchase confirmation
- You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's App Store subscription settings
- We do not offer refunds except as required by applicable law or Apple's refund policies
- Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice
Family plan subscriptions are for use by members of a single household only.
5. License to Use the App
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Dubbadhu app on your personal device solely for your personal, non-commercial language learning purposes.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
- Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our written consent
- Create derivative works based on the Service or its content
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content from the Service
6. Content & Intellectual Property
All content in Dubbadhu — including lesson videos, audio recordings, text, curriculum, scripts, characters, and brand assets — is owned by Afaan LLC or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Our curriculum content is validated by certified linguists and university-trained language professionals. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or use this content outside the app without express written permission.
7. User-Generated Content
Speaking practice audio
When you use speaking practice features, you grant Afaan LLC a license to use your audio recordings as described in our Privacy Policy. You represent that any content you submit does not violate the rights of any third party.
Lesson discussion posts
Some lessons include an optional lesson discussion feature. You may choose to post a response with your name, post anonymously, or not post at all. Posts are tied to lesson prompts and are intended for language learning and encouragement—not general social networking.
By posting, you grant Afaan LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and moderate your post within the Service for as long as it remains published. You retain ownership of what you write, subject to this license.
You agree to follow our Community Guidelines. You must not post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, spam, or otherwise harmful to learners.
We may review posts before they appear, remove posts that violate our guidelines, limit who can post, and suspend accounts for repeated or serious violations. Other learners may report posts or block users so they no longer see that person’s posts.

8. Mission & Donations
Dubbadhu donates a percentage of proceeds to African foundations supporting language preservation and education. This commitment is made in good faith; specific allocation amounts and recipient organizations may change over time and will be disclosed on our website.
9. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or regulation
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access or interact with the Service
- Share your account credentials with others
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Dubbadhu's curriculum is designed to support language learning but we do not guarantee fluency or any specific learning outcome.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Afaan LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Afaan LLC and its officers, directors, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may stop using the Service at any time. Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends immediately. Sections 6, 10, 11, and 12 survive termination.
14. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Maricopa County, Arizona, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property violations.
15. Apple App Store Terms
If you downloaded Dubbadhu from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that: (a) these Terms are between you and Afaan LLC, not Apple; (b) Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; (c) Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app; and (d) Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notice or email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
